Aluminum oxide i-fiber manufacturer: New nano materials can be used to prepare ultra-thin radiation resistant space suits
One of the major functions of spacesuits is radiation protection: shielding various harmful radiation streams, particle streams, and so on that are ubiquitous in space. However, current spacesuits are very bulky. Researchers at the Australian National University (ANU) have developed a novel radiation resistant nanomaterial that is expected to be used to manufacture new ultra-thin radiation resistant spacesuits, enhancing flexibility and maneuverability.
The anti radiation layer of nanomaterials can provide the same protective effect as thicker anti radiation materials. Nano coatings can reflect specified wavelengths of light and radiation, including far-infrared and ultraviolet rays. When different temperatures are applied, this new type of nano can change its refractive index to reflect different wavelengths. Researchers can change the refractive index of nano coatings by calculating the vibration of light particles and heating or cooling materials through circuits. By stacking multiple layers of materials, various types of light and harmful rays can be shielded.
